On our final day of filming we might head down to Hunstanton becasue of is romantic seaside elements.

As we had a lesson before we started shooting we thought we could shoot some things locally. we shot a few of our "flash back" scenes around the college.

we were very happy with the shots we got, and will most likely use them in our final video.

Fish Eye Testing.

We went out with a fish eye lense, and tested some footage for our video. We realised that the difference is quite significant and shows a much bigger view of the shot so will be a good idea to use when filming from a certain characters point of view. We have slowed down clips where the lense is removed and applied so you can see the difference in shots.
We also like the idea of showing the corner of the lense in the camera shot, as shown in our last freeze frame. We will think about applying this to a clip if it will fit in with the video.

Eamon Video Shots.

We would like to develop this idea when shooting one of our flashbacks. We have already decided on using black and white effect to show that it is a flashback, but would also like to include the idea of filming the character with the camera. It would look as if they are filming themselves on a day out together. (This would be shown as a flashback)
We hope it to look something like in shots 4, 7 and 8, in this video.

James Blunt Video Shots

These are shots we have chosen from a James Blunt video, which are very similar to some we wish to compose.
Shot one and two - We want to show the guy sitting, 'thinking', looking lonely on a bed with dark lighting-prefrebly a long shot then some from different and closer angles.
Shot three and four - Showing the girl laying on a separate bed in lighter surroundings and clothing-different shots
Shot five - We want to do a similar shot to this hand clip, to show the closeness between the characters. This could be shown in a flashback so would be light surroundings but in black and white.
Shot six - Showing the girl with her arm laying across the bad to show where the guy once lied and where she now wants him to be.

we have looked at other videos and took some pictures that we liked from the video and posted them on our blog. we liked them because they are what we intend to do in our video.

Camera Allocation - Teacher Post

Make sure you discuss and plan your filming times now. You can start filming next week, assuming you have returned your signed camera loan letter.
Cameras can be used in your usual class blocks (just for that hour and a half), in addition groups can book out either one weekend (Fri 16.10 - Mon 9am) or two overnights during the week (excluding Friday night, for example Tuesday 16.10 to Thursday 9am).
There are around 60 music video groups and nowhere near 60 cameras! Book your camera slot as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

This is our anamatic, we hope to follow this story board closely to produce the first
minute of our music video.

Feedback from Pitch

* Most of the feedback from our pitch was positive.
some people thought that the instrumental at the begining of the song was too long.
but if we do fill it with good ideas then it will be effective.

* They liked the idea of our narrative option but we musn't get to involved in the story and forget about the music.

* we have taken this into account by watching some narrative videos and understanding how they have done it. we shall follow the same lines as they have for a professional image.

* They liked the idea of the couple and look forward to what twists we put into it. so its not as streotypical as usual love stories.

Teacher Feedback

The shot list is looking good, I think the way you have segmented it by sections of the song is a good idea.
Ensure that you also have some feedback from your pitch, write a blog entry that reflects how it went and any comments, questions or feedback you received.
Also try to include lots of images and other videos to begin to build up a picture of the mise en scene you are trying to create.

Teacher Post - What your pitch should include

All groups must produce and present a pitch as an integral part of the planning stage. Your pitch is a proposal for your music video to the record company thinking of hiring you:
It must include:

* A clear written summary of the content/key idea for the video (at least 500 words).
The summary should include a reference to performers, locations, props, target audience for the video, reference to research conducted on the band, genre of the band and the song, relationship between the music and the visuals, relationship between the lyrics and the visuals, if the video will conform to or oppose the generic conventions of videos within that genre of music

* 2-4 (embedded) actual music videos which you think are similar to yours or that contain something that has influenced your idea (plus analysis, use Goodwin’s framework for analysing music videos)

* 4-6 Images which indicate location choices, overall mise en scene, costumes, props


If there is more than one group pitching for the same song, ensure you have a back-up choice and also try to make your pitch memorable.

Plan Pitch

Pitch: Stay golden, Au Revoir Simone
Research: Band - Indie, Group of three girls
Lyrics - Have been studied and there are about two verses, some can be lip synced and most can be linked to images/clips
Locations: Bedroom,Home,Urban environments
Target Audience: Teenagers (18+) to adults around mid 30, 40 age range. Indie style groups.
Why?: We have chosen this song because the instant we listened to it, we were flooded with ideas and after comparing with the others, we decided that even though we had never heard the song before, we could develop many ideas to create a music video to fit the genre of the song well.
Overall idea: Slowly and subtaly showing clips of a breakup between a girl and guy (which had previously happened, so would be flashbacks) linked in with images of things such as the girl spinning a wedding ring on her table (to link in with the lyrics). Some lip syncing.

We chose this song for many reasons. After listening to it, we found it had an effect on us, and sprung up a lot of interesting ideas. Here are some of our primary Brainstorm ideas:
Narrative style - subtly telling a story
Story basis - a separated couple
Starting with couple together, slowly showing them separated, with flash backs and breaking up the showing of the story by other footage. Footage could include: Lip syncing, related objects.

We would like to involve twists and turns to our story line to keep our audience guessing. we dont want it to be predictable or boring, we shall resolve all at the end of the song.

'Your expectation'-Prehaps a ring spinning and falls at the end of the line/song
'I saw it coming'-Introducing the break up.
'An empty nest still leaves a space'- The couple misses each other.(both lying in separate beds abut an effect to put them in the same picture.)

Target audience:

Anyone who wishes to listen to it, however the older generation could respect it more. but the story line could strike others strongly if going through a simular situation,of a breakup.

We intend to perform this ourselves within our group, not using any actors. However this could change for the extra non-important characters.

Video ideas:

We would like to add pictures of the couple when they were together into our video. we shall flash them on the screen at the emotionally intense moments to add impact to our audiences feelings.
