WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SAID ABOUT OUR ROUGHCUT :)

Camera work-
*good variety of shots, some shots a bit to long but we understnd you are in the editing process
*varied shot types, close up very good.

Editing-
*Good clear cuts, bit faster and smoother will improve it
-good lip syncing
-black and white effect used well
-great idea to have flash backs and the flases back to the girl singing

Effects-
Good use of black and white used to represent the past
-flashbacks used well to give more depth while long opening

Mise en scene-
-good, fits well with the genre and style of song
-good choice of costumes matches the theme well
-good use of colours of clothing for girl eg white for present and black for the past

Performance/Genre
*well acted out, stayed in roll well, made it beliveable
-made it fir genre

Continuity
-very good, looked good throughout
-Can see camera in door knob
-Depressing - *cry* *waaa*

Overall comments
-good video, will be better once editing is compleeted, good stuff!

The real rough cut

SO FARRRRR

what we have done so far.
*Lip synced all of the footage
*Put all of the footage in order
*Put in the cut aways/flash backs
*Changed some shots to black and white
*slowed some shots down
*faded the begining of the door shot
*Filled up every second of the track with some footage.

WHAT WE STILL NEED TO DO
*add some suitable transitions
*play around with some of the shots orders
*Edit some of the colour for the shots that are to dark
*add more effects so some shots, speed, black and white ect.

How happy we are with our shots

We are really pleased with our range of shots, it was coming to the point where we were struggling to fit all are shots in, this is good as we intended to have more footage than what we needed.

Rough Cut

This is our rough cut of how our video is looking so far.
We have marked up all the lip syncing so mostly we just need to cut our footage in between and add transitions and effects.
A main effect we will carry out is to brighten the contrast of some darker shots.
We are pleased with our outcome footage, and variety of shot angles.

Shooting

We took the camera at the weekend to do our filming. We filmed in locations including:
Bedrooms
Parks
Pathways
In a car
On our first day of filming, after a few hours, our battery began to run low, so we had to charge it overnight for the next shooting.This is a problem we easily overcame because we were prepared.
A big problem we did face however, was the lighting. Because we had only mainly evenings to do filming, we had to work hard to find certain lighting and angles at which suited the shot best. For example, we wanted the shots of dave in his room to be dark, but so you could see his expressions, so we used a small lamp behind the camera to put light to his face.
Once we uploaded the filming, we found that in the shots we first filmed were just how we wanted them, but as we worked our way through the evening, the lighting became darker in some shots. We will adjust this through Final Cut by making the contrast lighter.

The shots from the park turned out really good. We were going for the 'home movie' look, where, we used the camera as hand held, showing dave filming me as if we were a couple. This was influenced by footage we researched in an 'Eamon video'.

After uploading the footage, we are now going to lip sync the track to our shots and start producing our rough cut.
